Summer Session Teaching Opportunities

Cushing Academy encourages applications from teacher candidates with successful teaching experience as well as those who have earned their bachelor's, master's and/or doctoral degrees, and who possess strong academic training in relevant subject areas. In addition, Cushing's summer internship program offers valuable opportunities for classroom experience to students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees and who are interested in teaching.

Summer Session faculty typically work with 10 or fewer students in one major course which meets for four or five hours every day, five days a week. Interns assist "master teachers" in these major courses, teach electives and coach athletics. All summer faculty members live in a dormitory where they supervise and interact with students aged 12-18.
