Our enrollment is selective...
but our process is a snap.
We seek students who are interested in taking an active role in promoting their own academic and social growth. We value strong character, motivation, diversity and strength in extracurricular activities. We welcome applications from girls and boys of all backgrounds and nationalities.
We hope your school search brings you to Cushing Academy soon so that you can discover first hand what makes our school such a special place. Thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you soon!
Application Process
A completed application consists of a parent section, a student section, three teacher recommendations (English, math and guidance/other), an official transcript, standardized testing results or an educational evaluation, a personal interview and a $50 application fee ($100 for international applicants).
Standardized testing is required for admission. All applicants for the 9th and 10th grade must take the SSAT; 11th, 12th and postgraduate applicants must take either the PSAT or SAT. International applicants are required to take the SSAT, SLEP (Secondary Level English Proficiency Test) or TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Kindly contact the Secondary School Admission Test Board directly at SSAT Registration, CN 5339, Princeton, NJ 08543 or contact our admission office at 978-827-7300 for more information regarding standardized testing. Our SSAT code is 2698, our TOEFL code is 9176 and our SAT code is 220050. Students are advised to take these standardized tests in November, December or January. Students interested in our Academic Support Program must submit a recent (within the past three years) educational evaluation.
To be considered in our first round of admission decisions, a completed application is due by February 1. Admission decisions are mailed on March 10 and families have until April 10 to reply. Candidates completing applications after February 1 will be reviewed on a rolling admission basis after April 10 if spaces are available.
To receive an application and catalog, fill out our online request form, or call (978) 827-7300.
Campus Visit and Personal Interview
A personal interview and a school visit are required. In some cases, a preliminary telephone interview is available for international students. At the time of the visit, a student tour guide will give a tour of campus and separate interviews will take place for the parents and the applicant. Families should plan to spend about two hours for the campus visit and interview. If we are traveling to your area, we can arrange an interview during our visit.
