The Fisher-Watkins Library plays an important role in the learning environment that Cushing Academy creates for its students. As an early adopter in the shift toward the digital domain, the Library established itself as a leader in the migration to eReaders and electronic content. Today, the library has over 24 million items in its vast collection of digital resources for students. The collection includes academic journals, eBooks, image and film libraries, and other educational content. Of course, our diverse community of students have different needs and preferences in how they access information, so the Library provides curriculum-based print
book collections for students to browse and borrow as well.
As important as Cushing's best-in-class collection of library resources is, it's not enough just to have the resources; our students must also know how to use them. As such, Cushing's Library is committed to teaching students how to locate, identify, and use these materials appropriately. Information literacy is the key to unlocking the full power of these collections, and the library staff provides the necessary instruction to students in classroom instruction and one-on-one consultations in the library.
In addition to the digital and print resources, the Library houses computer desktops, printing and scanning stations, group study rooms, classrooms and labs for instruction and collaborative work, and offers digital devices that provide on-demand access to long-form leisure reading.
The library is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am - 10:00 pm, Friday 7:40 am - 4:00 pm and Sunday 2:00 - 10:00 pm.
Come by for a visit and let us show you all that the Library has to offer!
