One morning on our daily drive to Cushing during my son, Barton's
freshman year, we were talking about how well he was doing. I asked him
whether Cushing was just that much easier than his previous school or
whether he was working harder and therefore getting much better grades.
"Cushing isn't any easier than where I was before," Barton said, "the
teachers just teach differently." Cushing is indeed a special place
where our children are challenged to take risks and supported while they
grow. Cushing's student centered commitment is evident in the classroom,
on the athletic field, in the art center and yes, in the dorms.
