Donations fill empty bowls

10/29/2009
Dishing up generosity, pottery students and faculty, along with members of the Community Service group, recently raised $500 through the “Empty Bowls” project.

The group created 75 colorful bowls, which were displayed in the dining hall; for $5, supporters had the opportunity to create an ice cream sundae and then keep the bowl they chose. The proceeds, along with some additional donations, will be donated to the Ashburnham Community Church’s food pantry. “Our motto is, ‘Your donation fills an empty bowl,” said pottery instructor Joan Hathaway. “This was a great opportunity for the art students to see that their work can be used for a good cause and to learn to give something of themselves to charity.”
