The Cushing Institute for 21st Century Leadership welcomed Oxford Scholar, Dr. Proochista Ariana to Cushing Academy, as the Spring 2010 Oxford Scholar in Residence from April 26-28.

Dr. Ariana specializes in the interaction between processes of development and health and she uses the capability approach to understand health and its multidimensional nature. She has a masters in International Health from Harvard University and a doctorate in International Development from University of Oxford. Her doctoral research focused on indigenous populations in Southern Mexico and she is currently working on research examining transitions and health in China.

 

Dr. Ariana engaged with small groups of students and faculty, working on the ongoing 21st century Curriculum Project and discussing the complex interconnectedness of human and economic development and global health.
