RJ Boyd ’10 Drafted by Florida Panthers
7/1/2010
In the recent 2010 NHL draft, Cushing’s RJ Boyd ’10 was selected by the Florida Panthers with the third pick in the seventh round (182 overall). "He's a 6-foot-3 defender, very good skater, very natural athlete," Panthers director of scouting Scott Luce said in a press release. "And he's a guy when you look at it, he brings that size, speed, skill and he has a lot of character."
Boyd, whose teammates at Cushing last season included his younger brother, Sam, scored four goals and chipped in 18 assists in 31 games as a senior.
Originally from Sarasota, Florida, Boyd plans to attend Sacred Heart University (Bridgeport, Conn.) and play for their Division I program this fall.
