Performing & Visual Arts Electives have
included dance, theater, instrumental music, photography,
painting and drawing, silversmithing, sculpture, pottery
and stained glass.
Note: Insufficient enrollment may cause
an elective or activity to be canceled, and the courses
offered may vary from one summer to the next.

Dance Workshop
This course focuses on the fundamentals of dance
technique, emphasizing strength, flexibility,
endurance, control and coordination. Beginning
and experienced dancers are encouraged to
enroll—just let us know what your level is.

Theater Workshop
If you choose this course, you will be involved in
all phases of a dramatic production including acting,
set building, design, lighting, costumes and
makeup.

Instrumental Music Lessons*
Individual instruction is available for beginning,
intermediate or advanced piano, guitar, percussion,
brass or woodwind instruments. There are
six pianos and one drum set for student use in our
practice rooms in the JRCAC. Guitar, woodwind,
and brass players should bring their own instruments
as rental availability is limited.
*There is an additional, nonrefundable $350 fee for
instrumental music lessons. Lessons commence at
the start of the second week of classes and meet
six times during the Summer Session.

Photography
Develop techniques for shooting, developing and
printing black and white photographs. Emphasis is
placed on technical competence in all phases of
darkroom techniques. A standard 35mm camera
(not a digital camera) is required.

Whether a beginning, intermediate, or advanced
artist, you explore drawing, perspective and composition.
You learn the use of line, value and texture
and are introduced to various painting media
and techniques.
