Each summer, Cushing Academy hires several master teachers and interns to fill vacancies on our Summer Session staff. Therefore, we welcome résumés from qualified individuals with successful teaching experience, as well as enthusiastic and energetic interns who have an interest in working with adolescents in a five-week boarding environment. Candidates for teaching positions possess a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree and have a strong background in a relevant academic discipline. Candidates for internships should have completed one or two years of college, have a solid record of academic achievement, participate in a variety of extracurricular interests, and possess relevant experience working with children and/or adolescents in academic, artistic, or athletic activities. Virtually all summer faculty and staff live in a dormitory or in campus housing where they supervise and interact with students ages 12-18. Master teachers, interns, and dorm parents are on duty in the dormitory at least one night a week and at least two weekends during the summer in addition to having duties on both the opening weekend and the final two days of the Summer Session.
