Essential to teaching and learning technology is a key component of a Cushing education. Our wireless campus allows students to work virtually anywhere. Our classrooms are equipped with SMARTBoard technology or Epson Interactive projectors and our digital library
gives students access to millions of texts and data sources from computers and e-readers. On our intranet, MyCushing, faculty post syllabi and assignments, and students and parents can track assignments, progress, and school information. Lesson plans are brought to life within our learning management system which also provides for online assessment in the classroom for immediate student to teacher feedback. We use Google Apps for Education for email, calendaring, sheets, presentations, docs, document storage, and sharing. We also offer Microsoft Office 365 and the Adobe creative suite for our students to download and use on their own computers while they are students at Cushing Academy.
The Cushing Laptop Program was established to enhance our students’ education and learning opportunities, and to ensure success in today's information-rich world. Our Laptop Program also encourages personal growth by helping students improve their skills in communication, creativity, organization, media literacy, research, writing, and learning. Every new Cushing student is required to bring a networked computer or another compatible device to campus. We recommend Apple 13" Macbook Pro laptops which are supported through the Technology office if configured with Apple Care warranty. Students may choose to bring another laptop or device as long as it meets the minimum requirements. These laptops will be essential tools in students' academic life at school.
Cushing purchases Apple Macbook Pro 13” laptops for our faculty, which is why we recommend this model for the entire community. The Technology Office will provide loaner service on a first-come, first-served basis for students using this model with an active Apple Care or Apple Care + warranty. (The maximum three-year Apple Care + warranty is recommended.) Students may bring a laptop model of their own choosing that meets the minimum requirements listed below, but these will not be supported or serviced by the Technology Office. Of course, we will do our best to help all students.
Additionally, all students enrolled in a mathematics course are required to own a Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus or TI-84 graphing calculator.
Below we list the minimum expectations for your laptop or another device.
