  • Arrange a Campus Visit and Interview

    An interview and a school visit are a required element of a completed application. On the day of the visit, prospective students and families will tour campus with a student tour guide, and separate interviews will take place for parents and the applicant. Families should plan to spend about two hours for the campus visit and interview.

    In some cases, an interview via Skype is available for international students who are unable to come to campus.

  • Submit an Online Application

    Cushing Academy accepts two forms of application. Please select only one. Submitting multiple applications will delay the processing of your application.
    1. SSAT Standard Online Application (SAO):  Applicants applying to multiple schools are recommended to apply through the SSAT SAO.
    2. Cushing Academy Online Application: Complete your entire Cushing Academy application, including recommendations, online. 
    Please note: If you decide to apply using the Cushing Academy Application through our Application portal, do not also submit an application to Cushing using the Standard Application Online (SAO) through the Secondary School Admission Test Board (SSAT). Submitting both applications will delay processing of your application.
  • Submit an Official Transcript

    Detailed instructions for submitting the transcript are available on the application channel you choose.
    An official transcript must be sent either through an upload via the SAO if you choose that application channel, or if you choose the Cushing application it must be sent directly from your school to the Cushing Office of Admissions via email or fax only. ( or 978-827-6253)
    The transcript should include all grades received over the past two years. Grades from the first semester of the current academic year must also be sent.
    For International applicants:  when submitting the official school transcript, please also provide the English translation.
  • Submit Standardized Testing

    All applicants must submit the appropriate standardized test scores.

    Ninth and tenth grade applicants should submit Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) scores. Please include Cushing’s School code (2698) when you register for the test, as Cushing will only accept scores directly from SSAT.

    Eleventh grade and post-graduate applicants should instruct your school to submit PSAT, SAT or ACT scores directly to Cushing or email in PDF format along with your transcript.

    International students are required to submit the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) as well as the standardized testing listed by grade above . Please include Cushing’s School code (9176) when you register for the test, as Cushing will only accept scores directly from ETS (Educational Testing Service). Click here to register for your required TOEFL iBT.

    Any applicant with a WISC or with an evaluation of a learning style difference and who would like to be considered for the Academic Support program must submit that testing in addition to the above via the Cushing online application or via email in PDF format if applying via the SAO.
