Academic Support Teacher

Cushing Academy seeks to hire an experienced Academic Support teacher/Learning Specialist to start August 15, 2019.
The position requires teaching five classes in Cushing’s Academic Support Program. Candidates should have general familiarity with college prep curricula; knowledge about a range of learning disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, etc.), health impairments (e.g., ADHD), test anxiety, and general executive functioning challenges and their impact; the ability to individualize the teaching of learning skills and strategies for improving reading, writing and mathematical problem solving; the ability to help students implement effective study, organizational, time management and planning skills and tools; familiarity with student learning profiles, needs, goals and individual academic plan; and the capacity to relate to, establish rapport with and motivate students to succeed, become self-advocates, and take advantage of resources and support.
Responsibilities also include coaching two seasons of athletics as well as dormitory supervision. 
Qualified candidates will hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant field; master's degree is preferred.
