Connecting Classes with Public Figures

Students in Mr. Stone’s AP US Government and Politics class are finishing off the year by interviewing public figures as a way to connect their classroom studies with the world around them. Today’s guest was State Senator Anne Gobi, D-Spencer, who graciously and enthusiastically answered questions about her path to and role in government, discussed some of the challenges and opportunities within the state infrastructure, and shared her perspective on what it means to affect change. The group covered a lot of ground in an hour’s time and it was a wonderful opportunity for any member of the Cushing community to attend this open session in the library. Earlier this week, Skype interviews were held with U.S. Rep. Beto O'Rourke, D-TX; Jonathan Dennehy, U.S. State Department, Kabul, Afghanistan; and Pete Snyder ’90, Campaign Manager, Ed Gillespie for Lt. Governor, R-VA.
