Chief Justice Margaret Marshall and Greg Address CA Community
The Cushing community gathered on Tuesday, October 9 for a special assembly led by our school's legal counsel, Greg Keating. Mr. Keating was joined by his partner, the Honorable Margaret H. Marshall, former Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Together, they addressed three evolving issues: sexual misconduct on school campuses, bullying and hazing, and the legal pitfalls of technology and social media.
Mr. Keating and Chief Justice Marshall presented a thorough overview of each topic and provided students with the tools to help make educated decisions in an ever-changing world. “Hearing directly from Mr. Keating and Chief Justice Marshall was a great proactive opportunity for our community,” said Josh Doyon, Director of Student Affairs. “It’s important for our students to remember to be nice, think twice, and ensure their actions are aligned with their values.”
Stewart DeLeon '19 agreed. “Social media is always changing, but so too are the laws," said Cushing senior Stewart DeLeon. "That information and was really eye-opening. The assembly was a good way to create awareness within our community and to remind students of the bigger picture and potential consequences.”
