VBBIH vs. Winchendon School: CA 4; Winchendon 2

Cushing Academy – 4
Winchendon School – 2
The Cushing Varsity B Boys’ Hockey team traveled to cross-town rival Winchendon School for the last game prior to the holiday break. Despite missing 6 players due to holiday travel, the boys came away with a 4-2 win over the Wapitis in dominate fashion.
The Penguins held a 4-0 lead after two periods on goals by Charlie McFadden, Frank Viacek, Chase Davis, and John Lessard. The Wapitis put a couple goals past Penguin goaltender Ben Speyer in the third period to bring the final score to 4-2. Speyer stood tall in net by making 27 saves, including a penalty shot when the score was only 2-0. The penalty shot save by Speyer was a game-changing save and killed any momentum Winchendon was building up.
In other game news, Nick White was fantastic playing forward chipping in 2 assists while JV call-ups Will Lessard and Trent Madigan made their Varsity B debuts in the win! The boys head into the holiday break with a 3-1-1 record and are excited to get back on the ice when they return in January.
The team will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 with a home match-up against Top Gun at 7:00pm. This game will close out the 10th Annual Pink-the-Rink fundraiser where all proceeds will be donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. There will be raffles, merchandise sales, and great hockey for a great cause.
