VBB vs. Proctor Academy: CA 81; Proctor 76

Cushing Academy – 81
Proctor Academy – 76
The Cushing Varsity Boys’ Basketball team traveled to St. Andrews School for the last two games prior to the holiday break. The first game was a face-off between AA opponents when Cushing and Proctor Academy tipped-off against each other.
Early in the game Proctor used hot shooting to jump out a lead on the Penguins, but a time-out for the Penguins helped to stall the Proctor momentum. The Penguins came out of the time-out with increased effort and prevented Proctor from scoring on their next 13 straight offensive possessions. During this time of defensive dominance, Cushing pushed ahead for a 10-point lead going into halftime. It was the size advantage on the interior and finding easy baskets across the floor helping to gain the 10-point advantage.
The second half was an even battle between Cushing and Proctor, but the lead prior to the half allowed Cushing to stay ahead. The Penguins would not relinquish the lead at any point during the second half and were on the winning end of an 81-76 shootout.
Next up on the schedule for the Penguins is a match-up with Hoosac tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 15th at 3:30pm. The game will be played at St. Andrew’s School and concludes the 2018 portion of the schedule.
Season Record: 6-1
