JVGB vs. Milton Academy: CA 16; Milton 40

Milton Academy – 40
Cushing Academy – 16

The Cushing JV Girls’ Basketball Penguins suffered their first loss of the season, falling to an aggressive and physical Milton Academy team 40-16. Getting out to a slow start in the first game back from the holiday break and only the second game of the season, the team spent much of the first half struggling to respond to Milton’s uptempo offense and full-court pressure. The team entered halftime down 23-4. The second half was a clearer display of Cushing basketball with increased confidence, composure, and patience. Cushing tripled their scoring output in the second, led by senior Allison Green’s determination under the basket. The defensive effort was also markedly improved with tenacious defense by Rosie Xu and Sylvia Ding, who created many turnovers and fast-break opportunities. A special thanks goes out to our Cushing Super Fans for their energy and enthusiasm at today’s game!

The team looks to build on this effort as they prepare to travel to Phillips Exeter Academy on Wednesday, Jan. 9th for a 3:30pm tip.
