VBIH vs. Hebron Academy: CA 4; Hebron 1

Cushing Academy – 4
Hebron Academy – 1
With a winter storm brewing on Saturday, the Cushing Varsity Boys’ Hockey Penguins hit the road for a neutral site game at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, NH instead of originally scheduled University of New England. It was a 1:00pm face-off against Hebron Academy from Hebron, ME.  The Penguins dominated the contest in all aspects, playing in the offensive zone for the majority of the game.  Jacob Banks opened the scoring midway through the first period when he picked up a loose puck after a Cody Sealey rush.  Sealey and Nick Cafarelli were credited with the assists.  Banks’ goal was the only goal of the game until four minutes into the third period when Hebron capitalized on a Cushing turnover.  Despite outshooting the Lumberjacks 57-14, the Penguins found themselves tied 1-1 with 14 minutes remaining in the game. However, goalie Joe Sharib stood tall making 13 saves on the 14 shots he faced, and the Penguins stuck to their game plan, responding with three unanswered goals to earn the 4-1 victory.  Max Bogdanovich, Brendan O’Donnell, and Patrick Borella were the goal scorers in the 7-minute three goal outburst.  Picking up assists were Patrick Keegan, Borella, Shane Zarcone, Max Dorrington, Connor Wood, and Lukas Gustafsson.
The Penguins will travel to Northfield Mount Hermon School in Gill, MA to take on the Hoggers on Wednesday, Jan. 23rd at 3:00pm.
