VBB vs. Kimball Union Academy: CA 66; KUA 59

Cushing Academy – 66
Kimball Union Academy – 59
The Cushing Varsity Boys’ Basketball team jumped on the buses to head north to Meriden, NH to take on the Wildcats of Kimball Union Academy. KUA features a dynamic duo with a strong front court player who can make plays from all over the floor as well as a sharp shooting and athletic guard. Along with the above mentioned KUA cast are many sharp shooters who spread the floor with great range. This range showed early on as KUA marched to a lead in the first half. Cushing held tight and battled back to take the lead with a few minutes to go in the half. However, this one was close throughout the contest as KUA converted three-pointer after three-pointer and put up a challenge on the defensive end to take Cushing out of their offensive rhythm on multiple occasions. A young KUA team gave Cushing a run for their money, but the experience and leadership of an older team prevailed in the second half and the Penguins hung on for the win.
Scoring for the Penguins were …
Kyle Murphy – 15 points
Daman Tate – 12 points
Alexis Reyes – 10 points
Sean Conway – 7 points
Daniel Braster – 7 points
Bensley Joseph – 6 points
Malachi Ndur – 4 points
Sean Okpoebo – 3 points
Ethan Menzies – 2 points
Next up for the Penguin ballers is another road game, but this time they head west to take on Deerfield Academy on Wednesday, Jan. 16th at 4:30pm.
Season Record: 9-2
