VBIH vs. Noble & Greenough School: CA 4; Nobles 2

Cushing Academy – 4
Noble & Greenough School – 2

Penguins Punch Ticket to Finals, Knock Out Nobles

With a trip to the New England Large School Championship game on the line, #7 Cushing Academy made the trip to Dedham, MA to take on #3 Noble & Greenough School.  With a capacity crowd on hand, including many supporters of the White, Purple, and Black Penguins, the game was an intense affair with both teams giving everything they had.  Cushing skated away with a 4-2 victory.

The first period was scoreless, but the Penguins would notch two goals, within a minute of each other, in the second period before taking a 3-0 lead early in the third period.  The Bulldogs fought back to make it 3-2, but an empty netter put the game out of reach.  Anthony Cafarelli ‘21 recorded his first career hat trick, while brother Nick Cafarelli ‘20 had three assists.  Jacob Banks ‘20 also scored with assists going to Jake Hewitt ‘20 and Max Bogdanovich ‘19.  Helpers were also picked up on the night by Brad Zona ‘19 and Pat Borella ‘19, who added two.  Once again as they have in the previous few games, the Penguin penalty killers did an amazing job going 5 for 6, and goalie Joe Sharib ‘19 was solid between the pipes, making 23 saves in the game.

With the win, Cushing will now face #4 Kent School on Sunday, March 3rd at 2:30pm for the New England Large School Championship.  The game will be played at neutral site St. Anselm College's Sullivan Arena.
