VBB vs. Andrews Osbourne Academy (ISA): CA-76; AOA (ISA)-69
Cushing Academy - 76
Andrews Osbourne Academy (ISA) - 69
The Cushing Varsity Boys’ Basketball team took on Andrews Osbourne Academy (ISA) from Ohio on Wednesday night. The Cushing team finished up their finals on Wednesday morning and were looking forward to getting on the court to work through their final few games prior to the holiday break.
The Penguins looked to improve to 5-2 on the season overall, but it was not an easy game as ISA put up a strong fight and the game was kept within single digits for the majority. Early on in the action it was a defensive battle between the teams as Cushing and ISA both had a hard time getting the ball to fall through the net. Leading the Penguins during this early period were Isaiah Gray ‘20 and Alexis Matos-Reyes ‘21 as they attacked the rim and hit open shots from the three point arc. The competition was close until Cushing used a second half run to open the lead to their largest of the game at 16 points. Once the Penguins gained this lead, they held ISA at arms’ length to protect their victory and advance to 5-2 overall on the season.
Scoring for Cushing -
Isaiah Gray ‘20 - 24 points
Alexis Matos-Reyes ‘21 - 21 points
Daniel Braster ‘20 - 10 points
Bensley Joseph ‘21 - 9 points
