VBBIH vs. Academie Saint Louis: CA-1; ASL-6

Academie Saint Louis - 6
Cushing Academy - 1

The Cushing Varsity B Boys’ Hockey Penguins returned from winter break and opened the 2020 calendar with a tilt against a strong Academie Saint Louis team from Quebec, Canada.  Academie is probably the strongest and best team the Penguins will face this season.

The Penguins jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first on a Seamus Cummings ‘22 breakaway goal.  Unfortunately for the Penguins this would be the only goal they would get and it was all Academie from that point forward.  The visitors would net 2 goals in each period en route a 6-1 victory. Despite the score, Penguins goalie Ben Speyer ‘20 was excellent between the pipes making 41 saves on 47 shots.

Next up for the Cushing squad will be a rivalry match-up against the Big Red of Phillips Exeter Academy on Wednesday, January 15th.  The puck drops at 3:30pm on the Big Red’s home ice in Exeter, New Hampshire.
