VBBIH vs. Tilton School: CA-1; TS-2

Tilton School - 2
Cushing Academy - 1

The Cushing Varsity B Boys’ Hockey team headed north to Tilton, New Hampshire to battle the Rams of Tilton School on their home ice.  Despite the hard battle against the rival Rams, the Penguins couldn’t pull out the victory and the Rams won 2-1 in overtime.

Standing strong between the pipes for the Penguins was goalie Ben Speyer ‘20, who made 32 saves in a scoreless game until the Rams opened the scoring in the third period.  With Tilton up 1-0 late in the game, the Penguins pulled Speyer out of the net for the extra skater as they showed resilience and worked towards the tie. In the final seconds of the game, the Penguins tied the game and forced the game into overtime on a Brendan Dougherty ‘20 goal.  The Dougherty goal was assisted by Trevor Hada ‘20 and Aidan Gorman ‘22. It didn’t take long into the overtime before Tilton put one into the Cushing net to take the 2-1 win on their home ice.

It was a well-played tight and physical game in which the Penguins should be proud of their efforts on the ice in the game today.

The Penguins will play another one tomorrow, Sunday, January 26th at home against the New England Crows at 2:30pm.
