VBB vs. Winchendon School: CA-76; WS-45

Cushing Academy - 76
Winchendon School - 45

On Wednesday afternoon, the Cushing Varsity Boys’ Basketball team played their second game against new AA in-league and Route 12 rival Winchendon School.  The Wapiti of Winchendon put up a great fight when the teams met this past Sunday at the Watkins Field House, but the home team Penguins were victorious.

Knowing the challenge the Wapiti put up on Sunday, the Penguins had to be at their best to get the road win in front of a tough crowd.  A quick start by the Cushing squad saw a 30-point lead in the first half and there was no looking back from that point onwards. The Penguins cruised to a wire-to-wire victory of more than 30 points.

Leading the way in both scoring and rebounding was Malachi Ndur ‘20.  Leading the team with 6 assists was guard Bensley Joseph ‘21. Other Penguins hitting the bottom of the net for 8 or more points included Isaiah Gray ‘20 (14 points), Toby Okani ‘20 (9 points), Daniel Braster ‘20 (8 points), and Alexis Matos-Reyes ‘21 (8 points)

The Penguins are back on the road this Friday, January 31st as they travel to Bridgton Academy for a 3:00pm tip-off.
