Cushing Mourns the Passing of John "Bud" Shevenell '39

The Cushing community is deeply saddened by the death of John "Bud" Shevenell, Class of 1939, on August 1 after a brief illness.

"Bud was a beloved and distinguished alumnus, as well as a devoted Trustee and Trustee Emeritus," noted Dr. Tracy. "We honor the integrity of his life and his service to our great institution. He will be sorely missed."

Bud spoke at the Installation of Dr. Tracy as Headmaster in 2006, representing all Cushing alumni.

His lifelong leadership and generosity to Cushing included his service as a Trustee and Trustee Emeritus and his support of countless projects, including the creation of the Shevenell Terrace, the Shevenell Music Studio in the Joseph R. Curry Academic Center, and the Susanne Shevenell Drawing and Painting Studio, which Bud contributed to honor his beloved wife Sue, a talented artist.

Bud is survived by Sue, by their three children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Please click here to read his full obituary.
