Fall Theatre Production: The Woman in Black

On October 28-30, the Cushing Academy Theater will be featuring The Woman in Black, a suspense-filled ghost story adapted into a play by Stephen Mallatratt. Originally written for a cast of three actors, Theatre Director Julia Ohm has adapted the play to fit our cast and our theater.

The play follows Arthur Kipps (Christina McCormick) and a professional actor (Ian Boyle) who Kipps hires to aid him in the telling of the ghastly story of Kipps as a young solicitor working for a London firm. A partner of the firm, Mr. Bentley (Alex Cummings), knows the strange tales so he sends Kipp on the assignment to a distant corner of the British Isles. On the way, Kipps meets Mr. Samuel Daily (Christopher Bennett) who lives in a town which has the terrible misfortune of retaining a very restless ghost and a lot of people reluctant to talk about it (Asher Chase, Natalie Mayer, Lauren Young, and Julia Zephir). Other roles played by Keeley Frost, Luciana Fionda, Mai Wei Zhang, and Shirley Chen. The play will take place in Cowell Chapel at 7:30 on October 28th, and 8:00 on October 29th and 30th.

If you would like to loan any props to the production, the following toys, with a Victorian-era appearance, would be greatly appreciated and promptly returned! Please contact johm@cushing.org if you have an item to loan. Items needed include: metal soldiers, a farm with barns and fences, a model ship with masts and sails, a spinning top, a monkey made of leather, a cat made of wool, a doll with a china head, a miniature trumpet, a painted musical box.
