Lukas competed in the seeded boys’ division, a race in which the competition is particularly fierce since the top 10 finishers are selected to represent the region at the national championships in San Diego, CA. Jordan competed on the same course, but in the freshman boys’ race.
Both athletes competed hard and ran great races. Lukas finished 131st of 186 runners in 17 minutes and 45 seconds, a time which would have placed him 8th in the junior boys’ race had he opted for that less competitive race (the top juniors and seniors generally opt to compete in the seeded race).
Jordan finished 9th of 58 runners in 18 minutes and 2 seconds. Along with the other 23 top finishers in the freshman boys’ race, he was named to the All Northeast Region Freshman team and received a medal and certificate in a ceremony following the race. Jordan was also the first finisher from Massachusetts in his race.
Congratulations to both boys on a fine end to their outstanding XC season! (Pictured: Jordan (left) and Lukas (right.)
