Simon '11 Takes Top Honors

Congratulations are in order for Cushing Senior, Emily Simon, pictured here aboard her newly acquired German Warmblood, Wemchamps Ed. For two consecutive weeks the duo took top honors in the Amateur Owner Hunters taking first place in the $1,000 Hunter Classic at the HITS horse shows in Ocala, Florida.
Emily was also reserve champion in her division in week 3. She opened some eyes in week #4 when she placed in the $10,000 Hunter Derby putting her in contention for a spot at the $500,000 Hunter Derby to be held September. Based on her performance she is currently ranked 24th nationally in one of the most competitive divisions in the hunters and jumpers. She is also on track for an invite to the prestigious Devon Horse show in Devon, Pennsylvania held in May of this year. Riding against some of the best juniors, amateurs and professionals in the country while commuting from Boston to Florida every weekend and managing to make the honor roll at Cushing has been an amazing feat. She attributes much her success to the flexibility and support of her advisors and teachers at Cushing have provided while she pursues her talent and passion.
