We wish to thank the parents of our varsity boys’ hockey team for their support and assistance during the pre-season trip and scrimmages last week.
The boys started off at UMASS Lowell with a scrimmage against Berwick and came up with a 4-0 win. While there, the team met up with former Penguin, Mike Conderman ’10, who now plays at Lowell and gave the group a tour of the hockey facilities.
The boys then traveled down to Hartford, Connecticut, to see a match-up between Trinity College and Connecticut College with three former Cushing hockey players on the ice: Paul Burns ’11 and Sam Kane ’11 now at Trinity and Marcus Calvanico ’10 at Connecticut College. After a team dinner hosted by Coach Gagnon’s parents, it was off to South Windsor to Yale for another scrimmage vs. The Gunnery. While the Mighty Penguins came up short, 4-7, it was a great game and a perfect opportunity for the team to get in some competition before the start of the regular season, which begins Friday, December 2 at 6:30pm vs. Winchendon (away.) We wish them luck!
