Moliere's "Tartuffe"

For their final production of the 2011-2012 academic year, our theatre students performed the 1664 French play, Tartuffe, for a full house May 3-5.
Taking place at the fêtes held at Versailles, the Cushing actors brought the audience back to the time of King Louis XIV, aristocrats, and the French hierarchy. The play, a comedy, was written completely in rhyming couplets. Says Ms. Julia Ohm, Chair of Performing Arts, “Moliere offered the students a chance to whet their appetite with French classical comedy, a genre that educationally gives them skills in a very specific medium.”
