WWE’s John Cena is a Penguin!

Did you know…. John Cena, the famed WWE wrestler who has 19 wrestling championships, including 12 word titles under his belt, is a member of the Cushing Class of 1995?! The West Newbury, Massachusetts native attended Cushing for his junior and senior years and continued on at Springfield College where he majored in Exercise Physiology. While he was a football star during high school and college, Cena took on wrestling fulltime in 2000.

In addition to his career in the ring, Cena has starred in several films, including The Marine, 12 Rounds, Legendary, and Fred: The Movie. In 2010 he was voted Mashable Awards “Most Influential Social Good Champion” for actively leveraging his social media presence and influence for a number of philanthropic endeavors, such as the Kids Wish Network and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, for which he is the biggest wish-granter in the organization’s history with over 300 wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.

While at Cushing, Cena was voted “Loudest” and “Best Body” in the 1995 yearbook senior superlatives. He has stayed in touch with faculty and coaches and returned to campus in 2003 to discuss his blossoming career and the life of professional athletes.
