It's been a busy summer with renovations and construction -- check out what's new on campus, inside and out!
During the summer, our maintenance staff has been hard at work renovating some of the most highly utilized spaces on campus. Thanks to the generosity of the parents of the Class of 2012, the Student Center has a completely new look! The renovations include the creation of a separate glassed-in television room, all new furniture and café area, the opening up of the rotunda for seating, new games including air hockey, ping pong, pool, and foosball, as well as an X-box gaming area. We hope our students will enjoy the upgrades and we invite all of you to check out the new space when you’re on campus. (And please note: these photos were taken before the official re-opening of the Student Center -- we're sure it will be a busy space!)
We’ve also improved the day student lounge in the Main Building. After an extensive renovation this summer, the space was made much larger and has new lighting and glass to bring in more natural light, brand new lockers—in purple, of course—as well as all new flooring, furniture, and fixtures. It has tables and chairs for study as well as comfortable furniture with tablet arms for laptop use. Perhaps the most interesting change in the space is uncovering some archways in the back of the room that were part of the original gymnasium and lend historical character to the space.
And last but not least, we’ve added two new townhouses for faculty families along School Street. These attractive homes are a much-needed addition to campus and we hope they will serve as models for future housing expansion and remodeling.
In addition to the renovations, we’ve also added several iClass tables across campus. Students will have access to a table in math, English, biology, ecology, and one in the library. Further, there will be a table in Admissions so that visitors to campus, in particular prospective students, can check out this innovative teaching tool.
