Donations Fill Empty Bowls

Many thanks to the members of the Cushing community who supported our pottery students and Community Service group during their annual Empty Bowls fundraiser.

The group created dozens of colorful bowls, which were displayed in the Dining Hall during Spring Family Weekend’s Friday lunch. For $5, supporters had the opportunity to create an ice cream sundae and then keep the bowl after enjoying their dessert. The proceeds, along with some additional donations, totaled over $400 and will be donated to the Ashburnham Community Church Food Pantry. “Our motto is, ‘Your donation fills an empty bowl,” said pottery instructor Joan Hathaway. “This was a great opportunity for the art students to see that their work can be used for a good cause and to learn to give something of themselves to charity.”
