Students Enjoy London Broadcast of A Streetcar Named Desire

Last week, a group of 28 students – some Cushing Scholars, others theatre students – enjoyed a production of Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire, at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH. A broadcast by National Theatre Live from London’s New Vic Theatre, the show starred Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Fall) as Blanche DuBois, Ben Foster (Lone Survivor, Kill Your Darlings) as Stanley and Vanessa Kirby (BBC's Great Expectations, Three Sisters at the Young Vic) as Stella. Said Mr. Peter Clarke, who heads the Cushing Scholars Program and is Chair of the History Department, “One of the students said it was probably one of the most intense plays she had ever seen. It was just extraordinary.” The group enjoyed a pizza dinner prior to the show and one of their favorite treats – mini cannolis.
