University Dancers is the performing and touring company for the University of Massachusetts-Amherst Dance Program, providing a uniquely diverse, creative, and artistic education to aspiring performers, dance makers, and teaching artists. Dancers work with guest artists at the forefront of their craft in both the United States and Europe as well as benefit from being a part of the Five College Dance Department (including Amherst, Mt. Holyoke, Hampshire, and Smith Colleges), quadrupling their opportunities in creative, collaborative, and performing opportunities.
University Dancers Tour Director, Paul Dennis, is a former member of the Limón Dance Company and Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. His career includes a 1995 White House performance, performances with Jacob’s Pillow Men Dancers: The Ted Shawn Legacy, and an international touring solo concert. He has been a guest artist at Mount Holyoke, Amherst, and Hampshire Colleges, and the International Dance Association in Ravenna, Civitanova Danza, Italy. He has restaged masterpieces of Ted Shawn, José Limón, and Doris Humphrey for numerous companies including Scuola di Ballo Accademia Teatro alla Scala, The Limón Company, and The Rome Opera Ballet.
