Diversity Forum Series Mural

Following last night’s Diversity Forum Series event with journalist and author Christine Gross-Loh, all members of the Cushing community worked today during advisory to create their piece of what will become an all-school mural that will be installed on campus. Students were asked to use their section to visually portray growth they have made at the Academy, the way they see themselves in the past/present/future, or influential people/places/things/experience that have helped shape them to be who they are.

Christine Gross-Loh is the author of the book, The Path: What Chinese Philosophers Can Teach Us About the Good Life, which will be published tomorrow. Linking to the teachings of ancient Chinese teachers, she urged students to pay attention to daily happenings, to speak their truths, listen for understanding, embrace discomfort, let go of expectations, and understand there may not be resolutions.

Her other writings include the book Parenting Without Borders, and articles in such publications as The Atlantic, Parenting, The Huffington Post, Wall Street Journal, and Vox.
