Sports Medicine Field Trip

This week, members of Mrs. April Winter’s Intro to Sports Medicine class were welcomed to Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) for a tour of the institution’s physical therapy and diagnostic sonography programs. The group had the opportunity to tour various labs, take part in anatomy challenges, and volunteer for ultrasounds: one to see what practitioners examine when looking for blood clots in legs, and another to show the structures of a working heart.

“The facilities, technologies, and teaching faculty are top notch, and we had a wonderful day on the MCPHS campus,” said Mrs. Winter. “We could not be more thankful to be able to expose our students to the different paths in the medical field and to open their eyes to some new experiences. It is our hope that we can bring younger Penguins to the MCPHS campuses in the future to help guide those thinking about a potential career in the medical field.” We express our thanks to Mr. Theodore Iorio, parent of Ted Iorio Jr. ‘95 and trustee emeritus, and MCPHS trustee emeritus, who helped forge this relationship.

The class, along with Cushing’s Alumni Director Brett Torrey ’85, Mr. Iorio, and several MCPHS students and staff enjoyed a luncheon to conclude the day.
