Visiting Walden

During the fall semester, students in Mrs. Harmon's Senior English class read passages from Walden, as well as two modern-day novels set in nearby Concord, Mass., that contained themes consistent with Henry David Thoreau’s work. Taking advantage of Cushing's close proximity to the famed National Historic Landmark, Mrs. Harmon organized a field trip to Walden Pond on Friday, Nov. 3. To make the outing even more enjoyable, it just so happened to be an unseasonably warm day, which provided the perfect opportunity for our group to explore the beauty of our local literary history.
