A Letter from Dr. Bertin

Hello from Cushing Academy!

I am honored to join this school community as its newest Penguin and 13th Head of School. My family and I arrived in Ashburnham in June, and we are settling into Jewett House, getting to know the school community, and enjoying being back in New England. I am grateful to be part of this school that exists for students – and lives by this mission every day, in a supportive and caring community. This is what attracted me to Cushing, and why I am excited to welcome our students to campus to begin a new year together.

My goal has been to begin this journey by listening. As a part of my transition to the school over the last several months, I have had the opportunity to meet many alumni from a wide range of classes and many parents, current and past. What I love most about these conversations is the consistent feedback that Cushing provides its students with life-changing opportunities. The combination of a caring and dedicated faculty and staff, lifelong friendships made, and the opportunities offered at Cushing is transformational.

The Academy's vision over the next few years will be guided by the Strategic Plan that was published by the school last year and by the conversations that I am having with members of our community. I am eager to gather as much information and as many insights as I can about what makes Cushing such a special place. I look forward to meeting many more of you in the coming weeks and months, as we chart the future of this remarkable school.

All my best,

Randy Bertin, Ed.D.
