Dexter Southfield School – 4
Cushing Academy – 1

Cushing Loses to Dexter, Will Play for Third

With a spot in the finals on the line, Cushing faced Dexter in game two of the 45th Annual Groton School / Lawrence Academy Holiday Hockey Tournament.

Dexter scored the only goal of the first period and Cushing fell behind 2-0 in the second period, but cut the lead in half in the second. Patrick Borella '19 (Hudson, MA) picked up the puck in the neutral zone and made a perfect pass to line mate Connor Wood '20 (St. Albans, VT) who was flying down the middle of the rink.  Wood made no mistake on his breakaway beating the goalie over the glove.  The goal gave the Penguins life and they started to take control of the game.  In the third period the Penguins pressed and were dominating territorially, but Dexter capitalized on a mistake, which made it 3-1.  Penalty trouble resulted in another goal making the final 4-1.

Cushing will try to finish the tournament with a win against Holderness School.  The third place game will be played at Lawrence Academy at 11am on Sunday Dec. 16th.
