Melissa Irving Christensen '00 Elected to Board of Trustees

A graduate of the Class of 2000, Melissa Irving Christensen was elected to the Board in July 2013 and also serves as Secretary of the Academy's Young Alumni Council. After receiving her Bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross, Christensen attended Loyola University Chicago School of Law from which she received her Juris Doctor with a Health Law Certificate. She has worked in the Legal Affairs office at the University of Chicago Medical Center, and most recently served as Assistant Counsel for Philadelphia Corporation for Aging, the area agency on aging for Philadelphia county. In addition to her legal work, Christensen has been involved in fundraising efforts for multiple private educational institutions.

Christensen has coached both college and high school rowing and currently coaches a synchronized skating team, a sport in which she competed at the national and international level before, during and after her four years at Cushing; she finished her amateur skating career as captain of the world team, of which she was a member for three years.   She and her husband, Steve, live in Lower Paxton, PA with their daughter Lillian.
