Performing & Visual Arts Activities have included dance, theater, instrumental music, photography, painting and drawing, silversmithing, sculpture, pottery, and stained glass.


Note: Insufficient enrollment may cause an elective or activity to be canceled, and the courses offered may vary from one summer to the next.

  • Dance Workshop

    This course focuses on the fundamentals of dance technique, emphasizing strength, flexibility, endurance, control and coordination. Beginning and experienced dancers are encouraged to enroll—just let us know what your level is.
  • Theater Workshop

    If you choose this course, you will be involved in all phases of a dramatic production including acting, set building, design, lighting, costumes and makeup.
  • Photography

    This class will introduce students to the basic principles of photography and its use as a form of communication. Students will develop techniques for shooting, learn about aperture, shutter speed, depth of field and motion, and composition. Students do not need a hi-end digital camera—a simple point and shoot camera, or mobile device will work just fine!
  • Painting & Drawing

    No matter how much experience you have with art, you will have a chance to enhance your creative skills through the study of painting and drawing. Learn the use of line, value, color, and composition so that your artistic talents can reach new heights!
  • Jewelry Making

    In this course, you will learn how to transform copper, stones, wire, and beads into wearable works of art. No prior experience with making jewelry is necessary!
  • Pottery

    Develop techniques for hand-building clay pots as well as glazing them. This course is designed for beginning as well as advanced students. Sign up early as this popular course fills quickly.
  • Electronic Music Production

    Testing. Testing. One, two, three! In the Electronic Music Production afternoon elective, you will learn to use Logic software and a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) to build skills for creating original, sampled, and remixed music. You will also learn how to apply a variety of editing techniques such as tempo changes, automated effects, and canned loops. Let your creativity shine and enjoy the sounds you design!
