Learning strategies for students entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade
For successful completion of the Connect Program, students should expect to spend between 18-23 hours per week on coursework.
Special Note: As we know, the recent coronavirus crisis has caused significant disruptions to the learning process for many students. The Connect Program online presents an excellent summer opportunity for students to restore critical academic habits and skills across the curriculum. With individualized instructor guidance and support throughout the course, students will be better prepared for successful re-entry to school this fall.
The online Connect program supports students of all learning styles in developing strategies for improving:
- Organization and time management
- Reading comprehension
- Vocabulary and word skills
- Written expression
- Note taking
- Test preparation
- Project performance and presentation
In addition, the program reinforces skills and concepts in key content areas, including English, history, math, and science. In this process, teachers help students understand and appreciate their particular learning style and set reasonable and attainable personal goals. This approach helps students to capitalize on strengths, recognize weaknesses, and formulate an action plan for achieving academic success.
Online classes in the Connect Program include frequent instructor contact and coaching, including one-to-one student/teacher video sessions, regular feedback on progress and success, and individualized attention and support.
