Sarah Catlin joined Cushing Academy in 2017. She currently serves as the Director of Recruitment in the admission office and coaches varsity field hockey and lacrosse. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Catlin served as Associate Head of School for Admission and Enrollment at The White Mountain School in New Hampshire, where she also oversaw financial aid and the residential life programs. Ms. Catlin has also served as Director of Admissions and Student Life Coordinator at St. Ursula Academy, an independent school for girls in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ms. Catlin was the head coach for both the field hockey and lacrosse programs, winning a state title with the field hockey team. From 2001 to 2009, Ms. Catlin was the head field hockey coach at La Salle University in Pennsylvania, an NCAA Division I program. Ms. Catlin also coached three years of lacrosse at Susquehanna University, an NCAA Division III program. She has served on a variety of athletic and educational organizations, including the Board of Directors of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association and as Coach Representative for the Atlantic Ten Athletic Conference.
Ms. Catlin earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English from Bucknell University, where she was a Division I field hockey player, and is a boarding school graduate of The Loomis Chaffee School. She lives on campus with her wife, Dr. Jennifer Willis, and their two sons, Will and Hudson.
Dr. Jennifer Willis joined Cushing’s Academic Support Department in 2017. She worked previously at The White Mountain School, where she served as Dean of Faculty and Director of the Learning Center. Dr. Willis earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Davidson College in North Carolina, a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling Psychology from La Salle University, and a Doctorate of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Cincinnati. In addition to serving students with diagnosed learning disabilities and executive functioning deficits, Dr. Willis also specializes in partnering with students who are working to manage their academic anxiety more effectively. She has presented at a variety of professional conferences on the subject of anxiety, wellbeing, and promoting student support at the high school level. She has attended professional trainings including, “Healing the anxious mind: techniques that work” presented by Jed Applerouth, Ph.D.; “Strategies for managing anxiety in the school setting” presented by Lynn Lyons, LICSW; and “ADHD and Stress” presented by Barbara White, Ph.D.
In her work at Cushing, Dr. Willis also serves as an Assistant Coach for the Varsity Field Hockey team and Head Coach for JV Girls’ Basketball. She was a Division I college athlete at Davidson College and has coached field hockey at the high school, club, and college level. She has also served as a coach and selector for USA Field Hockey’s Futures Program. She resides on campus with her wife, Sarah Catlin, and their young son, Will.
