Radar Jones Onguetou Essiene is an educator, a professional conflict resolution practitioner, professional development facilitator, speaker, and equity trainer dedicated to lifting others through education, athletics and self-confidence. Since 2012, he has instructed students in grades 9-12 on variety of subjects, including U.S. History/Government, Civics, African American History, Economics and French. As an individual learning facilitator, he utilizes hands-on instructional methods and encourages critical thinking to impart lessons and emphasize individual voice and choice, as well as self-knowledge and self-love. But no matter the audience, Radar encourages learning balanced with fun and confidence-building activities. And whether he’s teaching academics or coaching sports, Radar promotes the moral and social values that comprise teamwork in the truest sense.
Radar Jones Onguetou Essiene was born and raised in Cameroon, Africa and became emancipated from his parents in 2004. Separation from his family has been extremely difficult for Radar, but he’s made the most of new opportunities in America. He was recruited as a basketball player to attend New Hampton School in New Hampshire on full financial aid. He graduated with honors in 2006 and went on to attend the University of New Hampshire on full scholarship before graduating Cum Laude in Political Science. Radar earned his master’s in Public Administration in 2011. He is currently enrolled in the doctoral study in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at Nova Southeastern University.
Radar admits he began his own journey believing that success should be measured in material achievements. Today, he operates with a mindset that views success as one’s ability to positive affect others—something he tries to do every single day.
