Performing Arts

Whether performing on the stage or working on a theatre production behind the scenes, Cushing offers unmatched opportunities to express creativity.

We offer a range of academic classes and workshops for students of any level in Drama, Dance, and Music. Students can also study digital video, digital audio, and other elements of production.

  • Drama: Students act, write, direct, and produce. Opportunities include main-stage and black box productions, from classics and modern comedies to our annual winter musical.
  • Dance: Cushing offers classes in ballet, contemporary, modern, and jazz. We cover choreography and dance history in our program, and students perform two main-stage concerts per year. Students have opportunities to choreograph original pieces, as well.
  • Music: Students can collaborate and work independently. There’s something for everyone with choral, jazz, and chamber music alongside music theory and music history courses.

Our Joseph R. Curry Academic Center contains dedicated, state-of-the-art group rehearsal spaces, individual practice rooms, a theater studio, dance studio, multi-track recording studio, and multimedia lab. All of these facilities support students in reaching their full potential in the performing arts.
