Campus Safety

First among Cushing Academy's priorities is the safety and well-being of our students.

Campus safety at Cushing includes five general categories:

  • Human threats
  • Fire and hazardous materials
  • Severe weather
  • Urgent medical
  • Plant and property

To ensure that students, faculty, and staff respond appropriately in an emergency, the Academy’s Campus Safety Team facilitates community training programs, conducts emergency drills and exercises, and regularly reviews our safety policies, procedures, and protocols.

In an emergency, Cushing activates communication systems, including web-based alerts and on-campus notifications, to promptly reach all school constituencies.

The Campus Safety Team also partners with several outside agencies and experts in the field of school safety. These include Securitas, Department of Homeland Security, the ALICE Training Institute, and the Ashburnham Police and Fire Departments.
