The Boarding School Experience
Live and Learn at Cushing Academy This Summer
Cushing Summer is a time for new experiences, both academically and socially through your own personalized selection of courses, activities, sports, trips and events. Experience the independence of boarding school living on our beautiful New England campus, along with students from all over the world.
There are four programs offered at Cushing Summer: Academic Program (High School, Middle School), Arts Program, Prep Connections Program, and English Language Immersion Program.

The Academic Program
For students entering Grades 6-8, 9-12
The Academic Program at Cushing Summer is designed to spark curiosity, develop skills, and build confidence for academic success. Rising high school students enroll in one college preparatory/Academy course (for credit or enrichment), while middle school students enroll in two enrichment courses. In the afternoon, students have the opportunity to enroll in additional academic, arts, and athletic options.
The Arts Program
For students entering grades 6-8, 9-12
The Arts Program at Cushing Summer allows students to take advantage of the amazing facilities in the Emily Fisher Landau Center for the Visual Arts and build a robust summer art portfolio. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced artist, if you are interested in seriously exploring the visual arts this summer — from drawing and painting to ceramics and metalsmithing — our Arts Program is for you.

Prep Connections Program
For students entering grades 9-12
Leaning into Cushing’s strong history of learning support, the Prep Connections Program gives you the tools you need to participate more fully, enthusiastically, and successfully in a college preparatory curriculum. Students participate in three courses each morning — English language skills, mathematics skills, and study techniques — and pick from a variety of academic, arts, and athletic options in the afternoon.
English Language Immersion Program
For students entering grades 6-8, 9-12
The English Language Immersion Program is for English Language Learners who are planning to continue their education in the United States. With small class sizes and skilled, supportive teachers, the carefully designed program significantly boosts English fluency and proficiency. In the morning, students participate in focused skills classes and english language workshops — in the afternoon and evenings, students participate in activities and trips that help acclimate them to cultural integration.
